The Elephant Sanctuary You Should Support

We’re so lucky to live on a planet with so many unique landscapes and majestic animals. That's why we should support and promote organizations that work hard to protect this planet and its inhabitants.

Like always, I did a lot of research on what to do and where to go in Phuket before we went. I compared a lot of things including elephant sanctuaries. We knew that we wanted to go to an ethical elephant sanctuary, but what we didn't realize was how many "sanctuaries" in Phuket pose as sanctuaries but don't actually treat the elephants ethically.

The Phuket Elephant Sanctuary was the obvious choice. They're an ethical elephant sanctuary that rescues sick, injured and old elephants, like Kannika, welcoming them back into their indigenous habitat.

My favorite thing about the Sanctuary is that THEY VALUE THE ELEPHANTS MORE THAN YOUR EXPERIENCE. What do I mean by that? They let the animals live naturally and let the visitors view them in their natural habitat without disturbing them. There's no riding, tricks, or anything of the sort.

Second favorite thing? THEY TAKE THE TIME TO EDUCATE THEIR VISITORS. PES spends the time before you observe the animals to teach you about elephants, what goes on in the industry in Asia, and what they're doing to help.

Oh, and you get a great meal too. ;) For more information on PES, visit their website
