What I've Struggled With the MOST in my Solo Travels

It seems like most solo travelers only glorify solo travel and don’t equally highlight the struggles of it to their followers/friends....whoever they’re tryna impress. So... “in full transparency” here are the 3 things I’ve struggled with the most while solo traveling and a bit on how I overcome ‘em when they strike.⁣

1. Expenses ⁣⁣ In my opinion, one of the things that I miss the most when I'm traveling alone is splitting costs with other people! My trip to Bali a few months back was a great example of this. I started off the first few weeks with my sister and my friend and we split the costs (car rental, wifi, house maintenance costs, etc.) and once they left it was a stark cost difference. RLY – this is one of the huge reasons I started housesitting as well! It’s way more affordable.⁣⁣ 2. Loneliness⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I have the hardest time with this when I start off a trip with someone and then they leave! It’s hard to switch into the mindset of group travel to solo travel. There are a few ways I've learned to combat this though. Take advantage of good ole Instagram to find like minded travelers or network through sites like Bumble! ⁣ You can always meet people the old fashioned way too. Another great way to meet people with similar interests? Hobby or workout classes you're interested in. ⁣⁣ 3. Safety ⁣⁣ There are some places I feel totally safe alone…and others…not so much. If I’m being totally honest with you, I really do think there are some places that it isn’t wise to travel solo – especially for women. I’m all for female empowerment and independence – but it’s just the world we live in. So when I think twice, I only go if I can go with a friend.
